It is so apropos, especially the first three pages. His vivid commentary with regard to the narrow, winding roads above steep cliffs, the horns blaring, the one finger salutes,the bevy of motor scooters weaving along side or in front of your vehicle, seemingly bombarding you like mosquitoes on a hot, muggy night, and all occurring in dense traffic darting in multiple directions at high speeds, is exactly what we experienced, and is why we were so lucky to have you as our driver.
Your recommendation to use Sorrento as our home base, and not Positano as I originally intended, was right on! Sorrento is gorgeous, user friendly, and is in an optimal location for travelers driving north to Pompeii and Naples, or south to Positano, Amalfi, and Ravello.
Like scores of others, we did the Naples, Pompeii, and Amalfi coast with you. But I bet you will remember us by the last leg of our trip: Do you recall driving us across Italy to San Giovanni Rotondo, birthplace of my mother, and Padre Pio's parish. Exceptional!
Cathy and I did the Amalfi by bus many years ago. In retrospect, that is like running the Kentucky Derby on a draft horse; the ambiance was also challenging at times. So, if you are planning a trip to the Amalfi coast, consider hiring ''Jack-The Driver''. He is the consummate professional: dependable, knowledgeable, and skillful.
Jack is affable and can communicate quite well in English. More than just a driver, Jack is like having a personal guide and historian for cultural enrichment. Our experience was just magnificent, and we highly recommend Jack-The Driver to others.

Jack’s skills, personality, and genuine regard for ensuring the best possible experience for his clients made our stay in Southern Italy the most memorable trip we’ve taken. We hired Jack to help fulfill my wife’s life-long dream of traveling to her ancestral roots in a small, somewhat remote village, S. Costantino A., in the Basilicata region of Italy; a trip that loomed with many uncertainties. The remainder of our trip would be spent on the Amalfi Coast celebrating our 35th wedding anniversary.
From the beginning Jack was essential to the trip’s success, bringing value to every facet of our experience. He was able to recommend and secure lodging near the village at a charming hotel nestled in an idyllic mountain setting less than 4 km. from our destination. Jack also helped with recommendations for the Amalfi Coast part of our trip as well. Always quick to respond via email, Jack served as a ”travel agent in the know” helping us to complete our plans with confidence.
We were met at Naples airport by Jack and were quickly engaged by his personality, command of English, and willingness to provide any service to help us accomplish our goals. We stopped off at Matera on the way to San C. experiencing his role as an accomplished guide. Never rushed, we toured the Sassi di Matera for half a day with Jack providing many insights and history of the town.
Arriving at San Costantino, Jack’s value and commitment was evident. Prior to our departure, Jack had contacted residents and pre-arranged a surprise meeting upon our arrival in the village. Our welcome in San C. began a stay of four days that was infinitely beyond the scope and dreams of our trip. As our escort and interpreter, Jack was able to not only translate, but precipitate the interaction and discussions in seeking long-distant relatives stemming from more than 100 years of history. Becoming so entrenched and entwined in solving the family enigmas, Jack became a clearinghouse of the village and family lore, helping locate some of my wife’s living relatives. Jack’s personality, diplomacy, and knowledge greatly reduced any suspicions of us and opened the hearts of the townspeople. We were invited into homes for meals, provided special access to records in the town hall, participated in an annual procession and festival, as well as be treated as family members. Regardless of the length of any day, Jack was always in the thick of it all, helping us to have the most meaningful visit and experience possible. We left the village after four days, not as tourists, but family. If we had to leave Italy, at this point, the vacation would have been wonderfully fulfilled.
Our next stop was Positano where Jack would drop us off for the next part of our trip. Rather than take the more direct route, Jack drove us through the winding drive along the Amalfi coast giving us an impromptu tour of the area. Along the way, Jack gave us pointers on how to travel the area (bus, ferry, etc) and recommendations of sights to see and places to dine; all of which were put to proper use.
Our last day in Italy was in Naples near the airport. We had arranged with Jack to drive us to Naples and give us a half day tour to fill up our time. Unfortunately, a relative had passed away, requiring Jack’s attendance. Despite this, he quickly located and provided another driver for the task which worked out well.
Jack the Driver is not just a driver – he’s a gem of a man with a huge heart that adds value to any trip you may take. Not only did we leave with a sense of family in S. Constantino A. and Italy, but with a new and dear family member, Jack the Driver.

We just got back to the states and our very first act is to write this note on your guest book. Our trip was PERFECT and you contributed so much. First, thanks for connecting us with drivers in Cinque Terre and Rome. David and Antonio were awesome. Second, thanks for making our day on the Amalfi Coast the BEST day of our trip. The lunch at Trattoria La Tagliata was one of the best surprises ever!

Simply stated Gioacchino (Jack) is the total package. Not only is he a profeesional driver, he is a man of knowledge and connections. My family just returned from a 2 week trip from Italy. We used Jack initially as just a transfer from airport to Villa, but what we ended up finding was so much more.
He is prompt and courteous. His English is very good and his knowledge of the area is fantastic. His suggestions on things to do and places to eat were spot on. He helped find guides not only for Pompeii but when we went to Rome and Florence his contacts were superb. All I can really say is that Jack is the best. He loves what he does and it shows in his face.

Ciao Jack,
We want to thank you for the wonderful time in Sorrento. We really enjoyed having you as our driver and enjoyed Raffaele very much as our tour guide as well. It was a fantastic 4 days that passed way too quickly. The tours you organized were wonderful. We really enjoyed Paestum, Ercolano, Mount Vesuvio, as well as the archeological Museum in Naples and the veiled Christ and Chapel. The cooking class was fantastic and much, much more than we were expecting. We've already made some of what we learned at the class and it turned out rather well.
I hope we have the opportunity to return to Sorrento and hope you will still be available at that time.
In the meantime, please keep our contact information should you decide to visit USA, especially the beautiful Pennsylvania area. We'd enjoy having you stay with us and allow us to tour you around this area.

We could not have asked for a better tour guide, driver, and gentleman! Our trips to Sorrento (the best place to stay!!), Positano, Amalfi, and Ravello were wonderful! You noticed how I love to take photographs and would know 'just' when to stop for the perfect picutre! The restaurant in Pantone di Scala was more than delicious!

We got back from a Med cruise June 11 and I must say Naples, Sorrento and Positano are a must! We were 5 (4 teens and me) and we booked with ...jackthedriver... (......jackthedriver.../) for 450 Euros. It's probably a bit more if you continue on the Amalfi Coast to Ravalo. We also did Pompeii (paid 100 euros for a private guide). Jack picked us at the port at 8:00 AM and got us back by 5:15 PM.
I think it would have been impossible to see everything we saw had we tried doing it on our own. Jack knew his way around and even had time to take my teens shopping and took us to a wonderful restaurant by the sea in Sorrento (his hometown)! It was well worth it!

Third advise... book private offshore excursions. They are cheaper than the ship excursions and since you have a private guide/driver, you can pick where to go and what you want to do (or they will give you ideas of the best places to go). I booked with Bob Frazini, an Italo-American on ......colosseumlimos... and had a great driver, Guiseppe (aka Peppe). The cost for a full day for five of us was around 450 euros. Also, Peppe got us a private tour guide in the Vatican for 100 Euros and we didn't have to wait in line for the tickets (ticket are paid separate). In Naples, we booked with Jack, a wonderful driver/guide. His website is jackthedriver... -- He that took us to Pompeii (again we paid for a private guide for the five of us for approx 100 euros total -- the guide wanted 100 euros, but you can negotiate). Pompeii is HUGE and easy to get lost in the ruins, so I strongly recommend a guide. Jack waited for us and then took us to his favorite restaurant in Sorrento... absolutely beautiful, then to Positano, the most beautiful place on earth! The cost for the five of us was 450 euros. Once we were on the ship, I noticed my digital camera was missing and realized my daughter had left in Jack's van. We notified Jack by email and he was so wonderful that he took it upon himself to send it to me in the U.S. and didn't want me to reimburse him! We were very lucky to have had Jack as our guide... it sure made the trip more memorable with his knowledge of Naples, Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast.

We used the ships excursions for all days except the last day in Naples. We hired Jack the driver at jackthedriver... for the entire day. He was excellent. We had made the arrangements via the internet and he was right there at the port at 8:00 waiting for us. His Mercedes van is immaculate--as is he--very well groomed. He speaks very good English and is knowledgeable about the area and serves as a tour guide as he drives. We went to Pompeii and spent a couple hours there. We then went on the beautiful Amalfi drive tour through Sorrento, Positano, Amalfi, and Ravello. Jack gave us the time we needed for shopping and eating. He was very polite and helpful. We would certainly use his services again if we were in the area.

I was planning a tour of southern Italy and most importantly to visit the town where my grandparents were from. I was concerned because I don't speak Italian and the towns I were interested in were small and difficult to get to by public transportation. Jack helped to plan my trip and made excellent hotel recommendations. He gave us an unbelievable tour of the Amalfi Coast and was so knowledgeable about the history and sites and food of the area. His car was extremely comfortable and clean and he is a remarkable driver.
The night before we arrived at the town of my grandparents Jack looked over some of the research I had done so when we got there he was able to explain things well and helped me to find a previously unknown cousin still living there. Jack has such a wonderful way of talking to people and putting people at ease.
I very highly recommend Jack as a driver and guide. He really went out of his way to make sure this was the best trip I have ever had. I am planning on another trip to Italy in August and hope Jack will be available.

Spending the day touring the Amalfi Coast with Jack was one of our best days on our vacation. Just wanted to drop a line to thank you both for the two best days of our trip. I am sorry I took so long to e mail you but I got really sick with an Upper Resp. Infection (Too many crowds and lousy airplane air I guess). But never mind, I am getting better. We had a wonderful two days with you both! It was so special to us to meet people who live in and love the country we visited. Italy is a special place and I know Ria and I will try very hard to come back. Florence was especially fascinating and We very much would like to get back to Pompei and Venice too. The Amalfi Drive was amazing and the two best meals we had on the trip including anything we had on the Ship, you provided for us. Hello Jack,
We are home safely from our journey and loved every minute of it. Our sons wedding was awesome!
One of the highlights in addition to the wedding was our trip to Scafati....I know the area is not that nice, but it is in fact my roots of where my Grandparents and Mother came from. Ironically, even though we could not locate the exact street, Francesco took us to a sort of town square which was right in front of the church that my Grandmother attended and Mother was baptized. The feeling of standing in that church which was magnificent to the eyes, and was just undescribable and gave me goosebumps.! My son was very moved by visiting this very special place.
I also wanted to thank you for your outstanding service which was a godsent! Francesco was wonderful, very nice, very helpful and went out of his way to show is all he could. But especially he was a courteous and very safe driver on those narrow, winding and treacherous roads! lol

Jack drove our family of 6 along Amalfi coast. He also provided transfer from Positano and Vico Equence to Naples Train station for us .He has great personality, speaks very good English and has lot to offer. We find Jack to be a person who will go out of his way to help you. He is very proud of his car which is very comfortable and he is very safe driver.

We are back home in Florida and adjusting to the time change. We do want to say a special "THANK YOU" for a wonderful tour,and for the pleasure of Franco's company. The weather was not at all good but our day was perfect, thanks to Franco. He took us on a very nice tour and to a lovely cafe for a great lunch and good wine. If you could find out the name of the cafe for me, I would appreciated it. Thanks.

We used Jack in September 2006 for a transfers to and from the Naples train station to Amalfi as well as a one day tour of the coast.
He spoke very good English, was wonderful to be around, and showed us things we would never have seen on our own. After seeing the roads, hiring a driver is best and he is great at what he does.

First of all, if you are visiting the Amalfi coast for the first time, do not even think of driving yourself. The traffic, the parking, and the danger will ruin your trip. Secondly, don't think of hiring anyone but Jack. He was prompt, friendly, and extremely, knowledgable about the history and all other aspects of the Amalfi coast. We used him three times during our stay, and really added tremendously to the enjoyment of our trip, He also knows all the shortcuts to get you out of traffic jams.

For 6 months prior to our trip Jack helped me plan our visit to Italy by giving me valuable advice through emails. When we finally met him at the Naples airport, it was like meeting a family member. He drove us to our lovely hotel in Sorrento(one that he recommended) and entertained us some of the history of the area along the way. But the highlight was our day touring the Amalfi coast with him. Our 17-year-old son loved him. That day was the highlight of our entire trip. Thank you Jack. We will return to Sorrento.

If ever you decide to go on a cruise with a port stop in Naples, you MUST consider using Jack. We travelled as a family of 5, which included my mother who is handicapped and my 2yr old son. We were given the opportunity to see Naples,Pompei,Amalfi coast and many more treats through the "eyes of Jack". His English is excellent and he is extremely professional. If you are on a Mediterranean cruise, skip the organized tours and use Jack the Driver --especially for seeing the Amalfi coast. He treated us to a wonderful day. Jack is polite, courteous, funny and very knowledgeable about the area. He can give you the history along with tips for where to eat and shop. He adds a flavor to the tour that you can't get from other guides. His English is excellent. If we travel to that area again, we will certainly call Jack.

Having booked Jack the Driver on our last visit to Sorrento was the best thing we ever did. He was so informative as he drove us to my father's family town of Scafati, and Ciaizzo where my mother romped around until the age of 6 before coming to this country. What a thrill to know you walked the same streets as your parents and grandparents did years ago. He was so helpful in speaking to the local people which we would not have been able to do and conversing very fluently back to us. We highly recommend Jack the Driver to anyone traveling to Italy wanting personal, polite, knowledgeable and accommodating service. I have recommended him to several of our friends and travel agent to use for future trips. We too, hope to see him again.

What a wonderful way to travel to Italy with your family! Last summer, our family (consisting of me, my husband and 2 sons, ages 18 & 15) took a Carnival cruise leaving out of Rome and stopping at several ports in Italy. The cruise line offered excursions in each port, but they were rather expensive and very impersonal. I was lucky enough to find "Jack" on the internet and arranged for him (or someone he knew) to meet us in each port and take us wherever we wanted. Not only was it convenient and very personable, but it was also much more informativie and less expensive than the "group" tours offered by the cruise line. We were picked up in a very comfortable air conditioned car and taken directly to the locations we had prearranged. He told us all about the area and he was very knowledgeable and proud. I would definitely contact him again and I have referred him to several friends. t was like having a relative or friend meet you and take you around.
